About Flow

Flow is a web-based bibliographic management tool freely available to Penn students, faculty, and staff. You can use Flow to:

  • Store references as well as full articles downloaded from electronic resources and library catalogs
  • Organize and annotate references and articles into a personal database.
  • Collaborate with other researchers though group annotation, editing  and sharing of citations, articles and documents.
  • Generate and format references and bibliographies, choosing  from numerous citation output styles.

You can Save to Flow from a growing list of electronic resources. You will find some of them in this list of supported sites.

Additional articles and citations may be exported to your Flow account by selecting the "Save to RefWorks" option. You must be logged in and have your Flow account open for this function.

Save to Flow

The Save to Flow feature is what allows users to export material into their account. You can add this button to your browser and be able to save material from a wider range of sources, such as websites

Note that the process to install this add-on requires additional steps if Firefox is the web browser being used. Installation instructions can be found in the "Tools" menu, once logged into your Flow account.
