SHARP2013

SHARP2013

Exhibit and Advertising Opportunities

By participating in SHARP 2013, you will reach an international audience of roughly 300 participants whose scholarly work ranges widely across periods, places, and subjects but who are all united by a keen interest in the history of written communication. The conference theme, "Geographies of the Book," has already resulted in an overwhelming number of program proposals. With over eighty universities and colleges as well as several world-renowned archives and libraries in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, we also have a strong local audience for the conference. More information about the conference can be found on this website; use the sidebar at left to navigate its sections.

Whether you place an advertisement in our conference program, participate in our book exhibit, arrange to have promotional material included in registrants' tote bags, or decide to sponsor an event or travel grants, being a part of SHARP 2013 will allow you to gain the attention of diverse scholars who are committed to the written word and its multiple histories.

Please consider serving as a sponsor of this year's SHARP conference in Philadelphia. For more information or to book one of these sponsorship opportunities, please contact Eleanor Shevlin at eshevlin@wcupa.edu.

I. Book Exhibit
(materials for display to be received by July 15th)

Like most of the SHARP 2013 Conference, the SHARP 2013 Book Exhibit will be held on the University of Pennsylvania's campus. The large room in which the Exhibit will be held is the location for all breakfasts and coffee breaks; it is adjacent to both the Registration area and the auditorium for plenary and keynote sessions.

Our exhibit rate is $150 for the first 6-foot table and $50 for each additional table. It is possible to arrange for the display of special banners or posters behind or in front of tables.

We do ask that publishers send representatives. Representatives may set up their exhibit tables Thursday afternoon, July 18th, during which time pre-conference activities will be taking place around the Philadelphia area. The exhibit space is a secured site, so titles and materials will be safe overnight. Representatives should plan on staffing their tables Friday, July 19th, from 8 am through 1 pm; Saturday, July 20th, from 8 am until 5 pm; and Sunday, July 22nd, from 8 am until 3:30 pm.

If your representative is not bringing your books, you may ship them to Philadelphia in advance of the conference (see below for shipping information). Shipments should arrive between July 5th and July 15th. Please email the Conference Organizing Committee at sharpupenn2013@gmail.com to let us know relevant details about the shipment (expected date of arrival, name of shipping company, number of boxes).

Completed invoices will be sent electronically upon receipt of payment.

II. Program Advertisements
(deadline for receipt of ad copy: May 15th)

The charges for black and white advertisements in the conference program are as follows:

  • $400 for a spread (additional pages, $200 per page)
  • $250 for a full page (4 1/2 inches wide x 7 1/2 inches high, with a 1/2 inch border)
  • $175 for half a page (4 1/2 inches wide x 4 inches high, with a 1/2 inch border)

If you opt to place a spread ad or a full-page ad and also contract for including material in the tote bags, your organization will receive a $50 discount. In other words, the total charge for a spread and the inserts is $550. Similarly, for placing a full-page ad and inserts, the charge is $400.

The deadline for receipt of ad copy is May 15th. The conference program page size is 5 1/2 inches wide x 8 1/2 inches high. Please place a 1/2 inch border around each advertisement: half-page ads should thus measure 4 1/2 inches wide x 4 inches high; full-page ads should measure 4 1/2 inches wide x 7 1/2 inches high. Files must be submitted as a high-resolution, image and font embedded, PDF or JPG.

You may submit the copy by email to the Conference Organizing Committee at sharpupenn2013@gmail.com. If the size of your ad file exceeds 5MB, please notify us prior to submitting, and we can make arrangements for you to submit the file by other means. Please also include the name and email address or phone number of the person at your organization whom we could contact if we have follow-up questions about the copy.

Completed invoices will be sent electronically upon receipt of payment.

III. Publisher Inserts
(inserts to be received by July 15th)

The rate for enclosing publisher inserts/catalogues (qty. 300) in registrants' tote bags is $200. If you opt to place a spread ad or a full-page ad and also contract for including material in the tote bags, your organization will receive a $50 discount. In other words, the total charge for a spread and the inserts is $550. Similarly, for placing a full-page ad and inserts, the charge is $400.

Insert shipments should arrive between July 5th and July 15th. See below for shipping information.

Completed invoices will be sent electronically upon receipt of payment.
