z-Continuity Resources: Overview

This guide contains resources to be used when web services are affected by equipment or connectivity issues.

Although LibGuide servers are robust, the content of this guide should be backed up periodically for offline access.

All pages linked from this site are private (available but unlinked/unsearchable) until linked to by webunit in case of an outage.

 A Confluence site for webunit and ITaDD provides an overview mapping resources to servers.

In the case of webpage outages, LibGuides backups of key Penn Libraries pages are linked from the Temporary Web Pages tab.

These are sets of webpages designed for three different scenarios: web page outages, problems with the HDL server and loss of both proxy and HDL service.  

When the server for the main library webpages is down, URLs usually will automatically redirect to the temporary website for web page outages and will automatically return to the regular webpages when the server is restored.  If not, ITaDD will redirect the pages manually.  This redirect will occur for all of the www.library.upenn.edu pages, even if some are still accessible.

Links to the other pages are embedded in the alerts for those scenarios.

The workshop management system now resides in LibCal, which like LibGuides is hosted on robust AWS servers.  

With a long-term outage, a workshop registration form could be created as a LibGuide Survey

Where these files should be stored should be decided: offline, Confluence, LibGuide?
