BorrowDirect, E-ZBorrow and Interlibrary Loan: Fines and Fees Explained

Overdue Loans From Other Institutions

We are no longer charging overdue fines for BorrowDirect, E-ZBorrow or Interlibrary Loan materials. However, privileges will be revoked while books are overdue. Replacement fees for lost or damaged books are still in effect.

  • BorrowDirect/EZBorrow or Interlibrary Lending (ILL) materials which are overdue - Blocks and fines will be removed once materials are returned
    • After 30 days, users are blocked from requesting any further interlibrary materials and book moves into Lost status
    • After 60 day, users are blocked from checking out any Penn materials
    • After 90 days, the bursar is notified to block user account from further Penn privileges
  • Lost Item fine:  $200
  • Items that have been deemed Damaged by either Penn or the Lending library are also subject to fines. Items maybe considered damaged if they are returned dirty, water logged, with writing, highlighting, or underlining, or contain excessive “sticky” notes and tabs.

Returning your loans on time ensures that we maintain good relations with our lending partners.
