University Rules

  • To be eligible to work as a student worker, you must be a current Penn student.
  • We hire federal work-study, international work-study and non-work-study students.
  • Work-study students receive a work-study award as part of financial aid. Check with the Student Employment Office if you have questions about your status:

  • Students can work up to 20 hours per week during classes. If you work more than one job on campus, the total hours across all jobs must be 20 or less.
  • Students can work up to 40 hours during breaks and summers. The Pay Schedule lists the weeks when students can work up to 40 hours per week:

  • Breaks: Students are required to take an unpaid break of 30 minutes after 5 consecutive hours worked.
