The Penn Library Rare Book & Manuscript Library (RBML) possesses nearly 5000 Spanish language items, much of it divided into separate collections. The Spanish Culture Class Collection of 771 items documents print culture from the early 16th century into the mid-twentieth century. The extraordinary Henry Charles Lea Library, a library within the Rare Book & Manuscript Library, counts over 800 items in Spanish. The Lea is especially noted for its holdings of inquisitorial documents. The RBML also covers the great literature and writers of the Golden Age, but especially theater and, in particular, Lope de Vega.
