The first year of college can be both an exciting and overwhelming experience for new students. There are new things to learn and new people to meet but there are also new systems to navigate and understand. The Class of 2024 faces an additional challenge as they unexpectedly start their college career online. Trying to figure out what you have access to and how to get it while away from campus can be a challenge but our librarians are here to answer your questions and to give you some insights on how you can access and take advantage of the library's many services and resources. Penn librarians will share their tips and information about the Penn Libraries and find out how you can take advantage of these resources for academic success.
The Penn Libraries: Secrets to Student Success is an hour-long panel discussion designed for incoming Penn undergraduates and their families that will be conducted through the Zoom video platform. An opening presentation will provide a brief overview of the Penn Libraries but the majority of the time is devoted to answering your questions like, "How can students get books? Where can I find research help? Do I have access to databases from home?" The floor is yours. In true library fashion, ask us anything and we'll do our best to get you the answers you need.
Students and their families have three ways of asking questions:
Three identical sessions have been scheduled to allow students around the world an opportunity to interact live with our librarians. Please note that all sessions will be recorded as a courtesy to those who cannot attend live.
Registration is required. If you would like to attend, please find event details in the registration boxes on this page. Once registered, please check your email for Zoom link and passcode for the event.
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Penn!
