ORCiD: Crossref

Crossref

Crossref is a not-for-profit organization that creates digital object identifiers (DOIs) and metadata.

Linking ORCID and Crossref

Linking to Crossref from the ORCID platform with the ORCID Search & Link Wizard.

  1. Log on to ORCID.
  2. Scroll to the Works section of your profile and click Add.
  3. In the drop down list select Search & Link.
  4. Select Crossref Metadata Search.
  5. Authorize Crossref Metadata Search as a Trusted Organization.

Import citations from ORCID to Crossref

Crossref relies on the metadata associated with a DOI, there is no way to import works from ORCID to Crossref.

Import citations from Crossref to ORCID

Manually Import Citations

  1. Search for a DOI in the Crossref search box.
  2. Click to open the full record of the item.
  3. Click on the Add to ORCID button.
  4. Wait for the claim to go through.

Setup AutoImport of Citations

  1. Grant Crossref permission via notification in your ORCID inbox.
  2. Crossref will monitor newly published works.
  3. When a potential match is found, a notification will be sent to your ORCID inbox.
  4. Visit your ORCID profile to approve new matches.

AutoImports will occur when a new DOI is created with your ORCID ID in the Creator field.
