Penn Health Tech Covid-19 Rapid Response Team - PPE production crowdsourcing: Face masks

Face masks for hospital use

Face masks for personal use

Judith McKenzie's team modified a sewed mask design to include a filter and nose clip for a better seal.

COMPONENTS: The mask is made of 2 layers of pre-washed, fine cotton, with a pocket in which a filter can be inserted. There is also an opening in which to insert a nose clip to allow for a better seal. The nose clip is made from two pipe cleaners twisted together, with the ends curled under for safety (see video). The ear/head pieces are made of elastic. An optional filter made of non-woven microfiber can be added.
