The Office of the Provost oversees the graduation process for all PhD and Research Master’s degrees at the University.

The University of Pennsylvania confers degrees in May, August, and December. Degree candidates must apply to graduate by the date listed in the Graduation Calendar and meet all deadlines for defense and deposit in order to be eligible to graduate in a given term.
Commencement and diploma ceremonies are held in May. Degree clearance is contingent upon timely and successful completion of all degree requirements.
