Fisher Fine Arts Library Resources for...

Faculty may borrow books from the libraries for a one-year period. Materials may be renewed online by logging into your library account on the Penn Libraries home page, or by stopping by the library.

Course Reserves

Faculty may place books, journal articles, and other materials on reserve at the Fisher Fine Arts Library. Scanned reserve materials can also be uploaded to Canvas. To ensure maximum availability for all users, most reserve materials do not leave the library. Some reserve items circulate overnight; contact Fisher's Reserves Coordinator for additional information. If we need to purchase a title for your course, let us know. But please note: we do not purchase textbooks for the collection.

Occasionally, art and architecture reserve materials may be found in Rosengarten Reserve. This facility, located on the ground floor of the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center, is open for extended hours. Books placed on reserve in departmental libraries, school libraries, or Rosengarten Reserves are listed in Franklin, the online catalog.

For inquiries about Reserves, including specific questions about mounting electronic Reserves on Canvas, contact Rachael Schechter (215) 898-8325 or

Canvas & Reserves

To register your course for reserves please select the reserves option when filling out your Canvas Site Request Form or see the course reserves page for other options.

If you are using Canvas you may use the "Penn Libraries Course Reserves" tool within your course site to place requests for reserve materials. This is where your students will be able access any materials placed on electronic reserves.

You may also place reserve requests for items held by the Penn Libraries by following the request links in Franklin or in PennText  To place other materials on reserve, or if you have any questions, contact the Fisher's Reserves Coordinator.

Please see Reserve Request Procedures for step by step instructions on placing course reserve requests.

Your PennCard is your library card and entitles you to borrow books from all the Penn libraries. Most PennCard holders are automatically registered for borrowing and database searching. If you are unable to access library resources using your current PennCard, please go to the Van Pelt Library circulation desk to register.

You will need your PennCard to enter libraries, check out books, print or photocopy, and to log on to many library resources. If your PennCard is lost, stolen or damaged, immediately inform the PennCard Center and replace it as soon as possible.
