Ink2Go
Ink2Go is a free annotation and recording software available for PC and Mac. Ink2Go allows you to annotate over your live computer screen, record a video, and save your annotations as images or videos to share. Ink2Go works on the Wacom Tablet available in the Vitale Digital Media Lab.
AppShow
AppShow was designed for users to create app previews and training videos about iOS apps. Using your device with iOS 8, a lightning cable, and a Mac, users can easily record their iPhone or iPad’s screen and utilize AppShow’s recording templates complete with music and transitions.
Screencast-O-Matic
A free and easy screen capture tool for Windows and Mac. Screencast-O-Matic allows you to record right from your computer screen with no installation, or you can download and run from your Applications. Pro version has more options and is available for $15/year.
Explain Everything App ($)
A low-cost app available via Apple. Explain Everything allows you to annotate, animate, and narrate presentations and lectures, capturing on-screen animation and sound via the microphone on your Apple iOS device.
iMovie ($)
iMovie allows you to capture video, organize or delete video clips, add a new soundtrack, add subtitles, and create special effects. Available from the Apple Store.
Keynote ($)
Keynote is a presentation software for Mac that allows you to build a presentation with powerful graphics, video, animation and effects. Available from the Apple Store.
Quicktime Pro ($)
QuickTime Pro allows you to capture audio, save movies from the web, and create stunning video. The Pro upgrade is available for Mac and Windows via the Apple Store.
ScreenVideoRecorder ($) *
ScreenVideoRecorder is an easy-to-use software that records your desktop's full screen as well as audio and animations.
Snagit ($) *
Snagit is easy to use and allows you to capture anything on your screen and edit images to enhance a video's quality.
ProfCast ($$) *

E-beam is a powerful interactive whiteboard system for PC and Mac that is now available for use in the WIC Seminar Room and for loan in the Digital Media Lab. E-beam allows you to use any dry-erase whiteboard to capture, record, and play back your lessons, and to create a digital file with audio.
Wacom Tablets ($$-$$$)
Wacom pen tablets offer great functionality for graphic projects, from photography to sketching to digital inking. The Vitale Digital Media Lab has both the Wacom Bamboo Fun graphic tablet and the Wacom Intuos 3 graphic tablet for use.
LiveScribe Pen ($$-$$$)
LiveScribe has a series of smart pens that capture anything you write on paper and transfers your notes and audio to any digital device (also works with Evernote).

A screen video records all sound and motion on your computer screen in order to save it to video and share with others. Screen videos are powerful tools for displaying your presentation to an online audience. They are becoming especially popular in MOOCs, or Massive Open Online Courses. There are many ways to record a screen video to make a lecture or presentation.
