Welcome

This online tutorial accompanies the WICShop Introduction to ArcGIS 10.1. Gaining proficiency in GIS can take considerable study and instruction, so this workshop is limited in scope. It gives a brief introduction to what GIS is and what it can do, some examples of its use in research, a basic overview of spatial data types, an exercise in loading and displaying data, and ideas for learning more.
