CWP: The Politics of Poetics (Fall 2024): Searching for Different Genres of Information

This guide provides an overview of Penn Libraries resources to support your work for this course.

Searching for different genres of information

White papers are source-based pieces of writing. Your project will use a range of sources: social media, news sources, grey literature, and academic sources will likely find their way into your white paper.  For the purposes of this assignment, we want to make sure that you use at least three academic sources, but in “real world” white papers the sources are determined by who has the most useful knowledge about the problem, which may not necessarily be scholars.

  • Academic Resources (peer reviewed research articles, scholarly books)
  • Grey literature (white papers or issue papers, policy statements, government reports, foundation reports, publications from "think tanks" and NGOs)
  • Substantive news sources
