The Asian American Entrepreneur: Web search and Newspapers

Tool that preserves websites created since the early days of the web, even ones that have been abandoned by their original hosts. Search is by URL. Use the results of a Wayback Machine search to identify more URLs to search.

Limit your search to file types that might otherwise be buried, including those in formats like PDF, PPT and XLS.

-Before running a search, limit "all content types" to "news."
-The initial search is 'fuzzy.' It returns results that don't include all the words for which you search. As a result, the initial search might returns hundreds of thousands of results.
-After running a search, use the filters on the left to quickly narrow it. For example, if your initial search for "University procurement" or "supplier diversity" is too broad, do the exact same search to filter the original results.

For instance, if you know that you are focusing on a specific university, try searching the catalog for newspapers you know are published in the vicinity. If you are researching procurement at the University of Pennsylvania, for example, search for papers like the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily Pennsylvanian. Some of these will be available for free on the internet--you can find them with Google and use them as you please--but others are only available through a Penn subscription.
