Higher Education Institutions

Higher education institutions like colleges and universities are businesses. However, they aren't all the same.

Some example questions to consider about your institution:

  • Is it non-profit or for-profit?
  • Is it private or public?
  • Does it receive federal funding?

These types of questions determine how much information is available about each institution.

Researching Specific Institutions

In addition to the above, an institution may make its financial and/or demographic information available through its own website.

Try searching institutional websites for terms like:

  • division of finance
  • annual report, financial report, financial statement
  • student body
  • incoming class profile
  • etc.
