Circulation: CHOP and UPHS

CHOP and UPHS - Access, Borrowing, & E-Resources

What library privileges do UPHS and CHOP have?

Students and faculty directly associated with the Perelman School of Medicine have full access to the suite of services and content.

UPHS employees and staff from the three legacy hospitals (HUP, Pennsylvania, and Presbyterian Hospitals) are also covered by the license agreement that govern the use and accessibility of these research materials.

UPHS employees and staff that are affiliated by the more recently purchased hospitals including  Penn Medicine Princeton Health,  Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Chester County Hospital - Penn Medicine have never been included in our licensing agreements. And therefore none of the campuses, groups or individual members of those institutions have legal access to the materials the library purchases.

CHOP - -  Access to online materials

While CHOP has close associations with the Penn community, there are no specific provisions for CHOP employees or staff to access online materials through the Penn Libraries. It is only to the extent that a CHOP user has an University of Pennsylvania academic appointment with a Penn department, is a current student at Penn, or is also an employee of the University of Pennsylvania that access may be granted.

UPHS and CHOP employees can gain access to any Penn Library by showing a UPHS or CHOP ID. More information on the specific access policies and hours of each Penn Library is available at Library Access Policies and Hours.
