Accessing Inquirer.com: Frequently Asked Questions

I'm on campus and opening articles on the Inquirer's website. Why am I seeing a paywall? 

  • The Penn Libraries Inquirer.com subscription requires connecting through PennNet (our campus ethernet network), AirPennNet, or Penn ISC's VPN. Be sure that you are not using AirPennNet-Guest or a connection that is not one of these three paths.

Can I access this subscription from UPHS and CHOP facilities? 

  • No. Access via PennNet and AirPennNet does not extend to UPHS and CHOP facilities.

 

How do I connect to AirPennNet? 

 

How do I connect to Penn's network using a VPN? 

 

I'm having trouble connecting to AirPennNet or Global Protect. Who can I talk to? 

 

Do I need to create an account on Inquirer.com to read articles?

  • No. The Penn Libraries Inquirer.com subscription uses campus IP ranges or Penn ISC's VPN to let you read articles. 

 

Can I read Inquirer articles on my phone? 

  • Yes, but you must read the articles through your phone's web browser, connected either through AirPennNet or Penn ISC's VPN. The Inquirer mobile app is excluded from the Penn Libraries subscription.  

 

Can I use this subscription to read articles through the Inquirer mobile app?

  • No. The Penn Libraries' Inquirer.com subscription provides only the Inquirer.com website. The Inquirer mobile app is excluded from our subscription. 

 

Can I use EZ-Proxy or Lean Library to access the Inquirer website like I can for other electronic resources? 

  • No. The Penn Libraries' Inquirer.com subscription uses campus IP ranges or Penn ISC's VPN. 

 

I have a personal Inquirer subscription. Does the Penn Libraries subscription give me the same access? 

  • The Penn Libraries Inquirer.com subscription provides unlimited digital access to Inquirer.com, including all premium and subscriber-exclusive articles, while using campus ethernet, AirPennNet Wi-Fi, or University VPN via Global Protect. The Inquirer mobile app is excluded from the Penn Libraries subscription.
