Seaweed Textiles and Threads from Studio Nienke Hoogvliet

by Unknown User on 2019-02-21T12:02:37-05:00 | 0 Comments

We received a small package from the Netherlands just before Christmas. We had been expecting it and actually looking for it in the mail. The samples took our breath away.  Studio Nienke Hoogvleit had send us some of her seaweed algae textiles.

and her Mourn bio plastic.

Nienke is an artist based in the Netherlands who has focused her work on human use and interactions with water, sea water, waste water and the environmental consequences of those interactions and choices.

Her work highlights responsible uses of the water- as a contrast and also to draw attention to the many irresponsible and polluting ways in which humans interact with the sea.

Nienke was recently featured in Vogue Magazine as an important designer and advocate for Environmental Causes.
