How to access:
Heather is a licensed clinical social worker who works with students around issues related to anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, identity, trauma, and family dynamics. She has particular training in issues related to sexual health/well-being and working with the LGBTQ community.

Services Available: Provides direct social work services and counseling to the faculty, interns, residents, staff, nurses and clients of Ryan Hospital and plays a critical role in the strategic planning at the school level with input on wellbeing program development and curriculum across Penn Vet. Provides therapy, individual or group debrief sessions following difficult cases (e.g., animal abuse), consultation about work or personal life, and referrals to and collaboration with other supports. Alea Cummings, MSW, LCSW (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience using evidence-based practices (e.g., TF-CBT, EMDR) and creative / body-centered techniques to empower people, families and communities to discover rewarding and fulfilling lives. She has spent her career working in collaboration with traditionally high stress professions vulnerable to burnout. She is passionate about addressing the unique mental health needs of individuals, teams and communities whose work positions them in close proximity to the suffering, distress and trauma experienced by the clients and patients they help. Her clinical approach is rooted in anti-racist practice, attachment theory, indigenous feminism, and is queer affirming
