GIS & Mapping

Who we are

At Penn Libraries, we can help you find, create, and analyze maps and geospatial information. As part of the Research Data and Digital Scholarship team, we provide GIS consultation and project support to everyone in the Penn community.

What we do

We provide GIS support across campus for students, faculty, and staff. Here are some of the things we do to provide GIS support:

  • Consultation: Sign up for 1-on-1 GIS or mapping consultations, up to an hour at a time.

  • Training and workshops: Regularly scheduled workshops, on-demand training, or tailored, project-specific instruction.

  • Project Support: Classroom support and instructional sessions, including resource and data retrieval, spatial analysis tutorials, and instruction on geographic theory

  • Services: Value-added services such as geospatial data processing, spatial analysis, address geocoding, and cartographic layouts (maps for presentation or publication).

  • Outreach: Outreach activities on campus through in-classroom presentations, guest speakers, faculty, and students.
