About the Accessibility and Learning Technologies Group

ALT's Objectives

1. **Identify Accessibility Factors:**
   - We aim to shine a light on the features and design choices that truly enhance accessibility in our learning environments.
   - It’s equally important to recognize aspects that may inadvertently create barriers.

2. **Provide Practical Solutions:**
   - We can empower our community with a wealth of resources, including informative documentation, engaging videos, and helpful tutorials designed to tackle accessibility challenges in learning technologies.
   - Hosting events such as workshops, presentations, and demonstrations to boost awareness and understanding of these crucial issues.
   - We’re also here to provide supportive services like consultations aimed at improving accessibility.

3. **Collaborate with Colleagues:**
   - We work with our colleagues across disciplines (including learning specialists and instructional designers) to drive initiatives where accessibility is a priority, like developing campus-wide captioning services.

4. **Engage in University-Wide Initiatives:**
   - Being involved in university-wide accessibility initiatives, such as the Committee for an Accessible University, enables us to address pressing accessibility challenges collaboratively.

5. **Consult with Student Groups:**
   - By engaging with student organizations, we can gain invaluable insights into the technological needs of students with disabilities at Penn. Together, we can make a positive difference!
