Data Management for Researchers

A guide for people who want or need to share their data and write a data management plan for funding or publishing

Resource

The requirements for data sharing for each agency have been changing over the past several years. One resource that does an excellent job of staying on top of these changes is the SPARC Tracking and Understanding Open Data Policy site.

DMPTool

The DMPTool also does a good job staying on top of the changes to data sharing requirements from different agencies. Sign in with your institutional information.

You can use the DMPTool as a guide to help you fill out your Data Management Plan for your grants. However, the tool does not provide responses to the information requested by the agency. While DMPs for research in the same lab, department, or school may have similar responses, every DMP is unique. Consider how you will manage your data for the project you're describing in the grant.
