OverDrive for Ebooks and Audiobooks : Home

An overview of OverDrive and the accompanying app Libby, which allow you to browse, borrow, and access our growing selection of largely recreational ebooks and audiobooks.

Introduction to OverDrive

Through OverDrive, the Penn Libraries is expanding our ebook and audiobook collections, while making them more accessible than ever before! Penn students, faculty, and staff members can browse, borrow, and read or listen to our books using the Penn OverDrive homepage (https://upenn.overdrive.com/), or by downloading the free Libby app to access OverDrive on their phones or tablets.

 

OverDrive Loan Policy:

  • Most ebook and audiobook titles allow 1 user at a time
  • Magazines allow unlimited, simultaneous users & include a 3-year rolling backfile
  • The loan period is 14 days, with option to renew 
  • Patrons may borrow a max of 3 titles at a time
  • Loans are returned automatically on their due dates unless you've returned them earlier 

 

Note: OverDrive and the Libby app allow you to link as many participating libraries as you have access to. For an even larger reading selection, explore and add The Free Library of Philadelphia's digital library, or any other public library system to which you belong.
