Patron Matters

Refer to Full Time Staff

The following issues should always be referred to the full time staff member at the Circulation Desk.  If there is not a full time staff member available at the desk, please feel free to find another staff member to assist the patron.

o   Blocked Patrons—Patrons may be blocked from borrowing for a variety of reasons.  If you are working with a patron and discover that he or she is blocked, please refer them to a full time staff member. 

o   Aggressive Patrons— If a patron is being aggressive towards you please refer them to the supervisor on duty.

If you are working a late night or weekend shift and there is no supervisor, you should not hesitate to ask the security guard for assistance if you feel threatened in ANY way

o    Expired I.D./Penn Cards—Penn cards can expire for a number of reasons.  Please refer patrons with the expired IDs to full time staff or to the PennCard Center (the PennCard Center is on the 2nd floor of the bookstore at 36th and Chestnut).

o   Non-Penn patrons. Courtesy privleges my be purchased

o   Fines—Patrons may accrue fines for a number of reasons.  If a patron has any questions about fines, please refer them to a full time staff member.
