The basic search box appears at the top middle of the home page. Searches can be run by Topic, Title, Author, Author Identifiers, Group authors, Editors, Publication Name, DOI, Year Published, Address, Organization, Conference, Language, Document type, Funding agency, Grant Number, Access Number, or PubMed ID
The advanced search option for Web of Science allows the user to create a more complex search and assists with Boolean Terms, Field Terms, Time span, and choosing which citation index to use.

Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) --1945-present
Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) --1956-present
Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) --1975-present
Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) --2015-present
