Copyright Resources to Support Publishing and Teaching

A guide for faculty, staff, and students at Penn about how to obtain, manage, and understand copyright issues for their work

General info

The term "generative AI" refers to type of artificial intelligence technology that is capable of producing novel content including text, images, sounds, and computer code. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and Github Copilot raise many complex legal questions -- including copyright questions -- that do not have easy answers. This guide collects scholarship and other helpful resources on how copyright law may apply to generative AI.
