Renaissance Faire Reflections

Thank you to everyone who attended the Dental Library’s Barbers & Books: Renaissance Info Faire on April 16th! We hope that you learned more about the Penn Libraries’ services and were able to grab a temporary Evans or Franklin tattoo.

Tremendous thanks to all of the staff, interns, and student workers from the Dental School and the Penn Libraries who were able to make this event happen!

Special thanks to Ohlin, Jean Findlay, and the Penn Working Dog Center for putting a smile on all of our faces! Follow Ohlin on Facebook at “Ohlin’s Great Adventures” for more great photos from our event and to see what he is up to when he isn’t visiting Penn Dental.

While we have photos of many of our vendors, several people were working behind the scenes or managed to not be caught by the camera! Mitch Fraas presented old dental ephemera from the Kislak Center, DaVonne Armstrong allowed us to share bestsellers and more at our book table, Liza Vick (Head of the Music Library) recommended period music to set the mood, and Barbara Cavanaugh (the Director of STEM Libraries and the Biomed Library) approved of the idea and our swag!

Scholarly Commons was presented by Sarah Wipperman (right) and Kenny Whitebloom. Amanpreet Kaur (left)  - a STEM Librarian at the Biomed Library - joined us as well.

Student worker Roshani Waas shared information about the Penn Libraries' collections at the Dental Library's booth.

Manuel de la Cruz Gutierrez taught us about MyNCBI.

3D printing services were presented by Biomed Staff.

The Head Dental Librarian, Laurel Graham, tested students' wits with an Evidence-Based Dentistry quiz.

A Dental Library Service Assistant, Sarah Bauman, shared information about Dental software on our public computers and Exam prep materials.

Kelsey LeClair, the second Dental Library Service Assistant, designed temporary tattoos and stickers for guests to take home.

Ohlin the therapy dog provided laughs and smiles for students, faculty and staff.

Last but not least, Dr. Thomas W. Evans also made sure to attend!
