Laser Cutting FAQ

We have an Epilog Fusion Pro 36 that can laser cut and etch/engrave a variety of materials. Our laser cutting services are available for academic, research, and clinical use and we supply materials free of charge.

Who can use the service?: All current Penn students, faculty, staff, UPHS staff, and affiliates for academic, research, and clinical use.
What file format should I use?: Ai, using our Template File. For instructions on how to format your design using the template Click Here.
What size can I laser cut/etch?: 24”x36” max
How much does it cost?: Our laser cutting service is free for academic, research and clinical use and we supply clear and black acrylic.
What materials will you cut/etch?: The bottom of our Main Page has a complete list of our approved and banned materials. If you have a material not on the list, please email us to assess it.
Can I make edits or changes to my laser cut/etch design during my appointment?: You can make minor edits to your laser cut/etch design during your half-hour appointment slot. If edits take more than the allotted time, you may be asked to reschedule.
What other laser cutting options are available on campus?: Below are other campus facilities that offer laser cutting services. Some are only available to students in specific programs.
