Biotech Commons Policy: Recording Consult/Workshop Statistics

Overview

Beginning January 2021, please follow the directions below to record consult/question & workshop statistics data.

Workshops

Consults

  • Enter Consult requests or reference questions that you receive outside LibAnswers (for example - email or phone questions) using the LibWizard Form.  Be sure to select "Consultation" before entering your data! - https://upenn.libwizard.com/f/Penn_Libraries_Consultation-Instruction_Form
  • Consults/Questions that you claim in the LibAnswers tool do not need to be added to the LibWizards form, HOWEVER, you will need to update the LibAnswers ticket following the instructions to the right ->

Iterative Research & Instruction Partnership

  • The Iterative Research & Instruction Partnerships form that can be used as an alternative to the Consultation and Instruction forms (see announcement below).  The link appears at https://upenn.libwizard.com/f/Penn_Libraries_Consultation-Instruction_Form
  • This form has been designed to create a registry of the iterative and ongoing research and instructional projects and partnerships that specialists across the Libraries are engaged in. Whereas the existing consultation and instruction forms were designed to track one-off or very short-term events, this new form was designed to track longer-term activities. The new form will help the Libraries tell stories and raise awareness about our deep engagements with faculty, students, and staff.

Consult/Questions submitted via LibAnswers

Most of the LibAnswer tickets we answer have important metadata stripped from designated fields.  In addition, there are several fields that are always initially empty.  You will need to enter the metadata into the appropriate fields.  Make sure to enter the missing data for EVERY LibAnswer ticket you claim.

  1. Select the “i” icon next to the patron’s name.
  2. “Questioner Information” box will appear.  Note the missing metadata.  Click the edit button.
  3. Enter the appropriate metadata if missing: status, mode of consultation, service provided, event date, affiliation.  Click “Edit Question”.
