MathSciNet Guide: Author Search

A guide on how to use MathSciNet, which covers all aspects of mathematics and provides access to over 55 years of Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications.

Author Search

Select the Authors tab at the top of the screen, this will enable you to search the author database. Enter the author name in the form of lastname, firstname or initial. Remember, truncation can be used.

To view or refine the results from a particular author hold the mouse over the author's name in the results list and a pop up menu with the following options will appear.
 
View Publications

Will display all items in the database by that author

Refine Search

To combine the author with other search criteria

Co-Authors

A list of possible co-authors, if any, will be displayed. From here, the View Publications option on the pop-up menu will return all joint publications, Refine Search will automatically enter the joint authors into the author search field on the publications search tab, and Co-Authorswill search for co-authors of those already selected.

Collaboration Distance

Takes you to a collaboration distance search with the selected author filled in as one of the two authors in the search.

Make Links

Provides a link is to the list of items for the selected author. These links may be copied and pasted into personal pages and documents as desired, and will always give the most current items listed in MathSciNet that are related to the author.
