Statistics are important for quantifying the scope of a problem and its impact.

PubMed/MEDLINE has a subheading for statistics & numerical data used with non-disease headings for the expression of numerical values that describe particular sets or groups of data.statistics. For statistics on diseases use the subheading epidemiology.
