At the Oral Health Literacy Lounge at the Leon Levy Dental Medicine Library on the 3rd Floor of the Evans Building, browse the cart, which has free consumer health information that you are welcome to use. The cart will soon feature books that you can borrow using the Penn Libraries' self-checkout app.
As a supplement to the Oral Health Literacy Lounge, this guide lists resources about health literacy (the skills we use to find, understand, and think about information to make health-related decisions for ourselves or with our loved ones, and/or patients). These resources focus on health literacy within oral health, dental medicine, and mouth hygiene.
In honor of Health Literacy Month (every October), 2018 Open Access Week, and the Provost's Years of Civic Engagement (2020 - 2022), & the 2025 Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium on Social Change, the Penn Libraries is promoting the Network of the National Library of Medicine's (NNLM) #citeNLM Wikipedia Edit-a-thon initiative, which you can participate asynchronously as a virtual volunteering activity by checking out the publicly-available training slides or the training video below. These slides are updated every semester. Join this volunteer effort to edit oral health-related Wikipedia pages.
