East View Geospatial has reprocessed data from the Egypt 2017 Census of Population and Housing  published by Central Agency For Public Mobilization And Statistics (CAPMAS), Egypt (االجهاز المركزي للتعبئة العامة والإحصاء‎).

Data content

This data product provides 97 census data variables for demographic, economic, housing, and social characteristics in its ADM2 and ADM3 datasets. The data product does not include every variable collected by the Egyptian census.

Geographic coverage

The smallest geographic unit of analysis for these variables is ADM3/4, Third-Order and Fourth-Order Administrative Division (Shyakha / Qurya, شياخه / قريه), with variables for ADM2, Second-Order Administrative Division (Markaz, مركز) and ADM1, First Order Administrative Division (Governorate, محافظة) . A parallel series of shapefiles provides ADM3 and ADM2 coverages. Geographic variables for placenames and codes are provided for 27 ADM1, 410 ADM2, and 5,890 ADM3/4  geographic areas.

Data format

Check the numbers here! East Vew Geospatial has published the dataset in two formats: two ArcGIS geodatabases; four pairs of ArcGIS shapefiles, corresponding to  thematic content for ADM2 and ADM3 geographic coverage, and one ArcGIS shapefile with ADM2 geography. The dataset is projected as WGS_1984_UTM_Zone_36N.
