East View Geospatial has reprocessed data from All-Russia 2010 Population Census (Всероссийская перепись населения – 2010) published by Rosstat, the Federal State Statistics Service (Федеральная служба государственной статистики (Росстат)).

Data content

This data product provides 139 census data variables demographic, economic, housing, migration (ethnicity), social, and transportation characteristics. The data product does not include every variable collected by the Russian census.

Geographic coverage

The smallest geographic unit of analysis for these variables is ADM3, Third-Order Administrative Division, with variables for ADM2, Second-Order Administrative Division. A parallel series of shapefiles provides ADM3 and ADM2 coverages. Geographic variables for Cyrillic and transliterated placenames and codes are provided for 2,228 ADM2 - District (raion or city district) - and 21,659 ADM3 - Rural Councils (selsoviet), settlements, and towns - geographic areas.

Data format

East Vew Geospatial has published the dataset in two formats: two ArcGIS geodatabase; six pairs of ArcGIS shapefiles, corresponding to  thematic content for ADM2 and ADM3 geographic coverage. The dataset is projected as WGS1984.
