What is BorrowDirect?

  • Search multiple library collections simultaneously; place your own requests
  • Fast delivery in 3 - 5 days
  • Track request progress online and by email sent to you

  • Searching and discovery: Keyword and advanced author, title, and subject searching, in an updated interface.
  • Loan period: 16 weeks, no renewals.
  • Integration with your Library account: BorrowDirect books will be charged on your account just like Penn books.
  • Account information: In addition to automatic email notification, you can view and track items borrowed using the "My Account" feature in BorrowDirect.
  • Delivery options: Books may be delivered to any Penn Library for pick-up.
  • Linking to Interlibrary Loan: Requests for books that cannot be supplied by BorrowDirect may be passed directly to Interlibrary Loan.

Download your BorrowDirect Request History

If you'd like to download your BorrowDirect request history from Relais D2D, please follow these instructions.

  • Log in to your BorrowDirect account
  • Select Profile/My Account to access your requests (menu/links in upper right)
  • From the My Requests menu, select Completed Requests or Open Requests (if any) – you cannot download all requests at once and so will need to download these separately to get your complete request history
  • Select Export Requests
  • In the pop-up window, select any additional fields you wish to add to your export; then click Download
  • The list of requests will download to your device as a CSV (comma-separated values) file, which can be read by MS Excel and other spreadsheet applications

Please note that starting on April 1, 2023, patron request history can no longer be pulled from the old BorrowDirect platform.
