Exploring Substances

Reading Your Results

  • Clicking on any one of the results will allow you to view various information about a particular substance, including but not limited to its names and identifiers or various properties of the substance.
  • A screenshot of the window that you are redirected to after clicking a substance in SciFinder-n.
  • Scrolling down will also allow you to view more information about the substance, which can be viewed by clicking any of the dropdowns.
  • All of the dropdown menus for additional information about a substance in Scifinder-n.
  • Note that clicking on the image of the substance will yield an overlay window instead of bringing you to a new window. From this overlay window, you can access Retrosynthetic Analysis. For more information on this topic, see Retrosynthetic Analysis.

Associated References and Reactions

  • From your search results page, you can peruse the references and reactions associated with any one of your results.
  • Note: you can also view the references and reactions specifically for the results that you might select. Select results using the checkboxes near the number for the results.

  • If you want to find the references and reactions associated with a single particular substance, select that substance and find the reference and reaction symbols right below the CAS Registry Number.
