Keys

Keys

The keys are kept in the lock box on the wall by the door to the Circulation area. The code to the lock box changes periodically. Ask a supervisor for the code.

You will need to be familiar with the following keys, and their functions:

HL-180: This key opens the door to the Circulation Desk area, Book Room doors, and Supply Closet door.

  • In the rare event that a key is forgotten or lost immediately before your shift, you may collect a HL-180 key from the following places:
    • MPA Library: ask for a copy at the circulation desk
    • Van Pelt Library:
      • Weekdays 9am-5pm: present your Penn ID at the circulation desk and ask to speak to the building manager (or phone at 8-5948); Explain that you are a student worker from the Chemistry Library and require the key to open up
      • On weekends, call the circulation desk (8-7566) and ask them to page the weekend building manager
      • The borrowed key must be returned to Van Pelt Library the same day.

HLB-10: This key opens the computer lab.

Reserve/Desk Cabinets: 100T This key opens all doors within the circulation desk

Reference Cabinet Key: A-101 This key opens the Reference Cabinet doors.

Study Room Keys: Labeled 538 and 539 and available in the cabinet under the circulation area.

Conference Room Key: Attached to wooden ruler in the cabinet under the circulation area.

MPA Library Keys: For use in MPA staffing emergencies
