Using Franklin Catalog

Creating Links to Franklin Catalog Records

To a single record:

Using the URL provided when you click on the "DIrect Link" button at the bottom of a specific Franklin Catalog record page is the best way to link back to an individual record.

If the bibliographic record number is known, this URL format can be used to access that record:

https://franklin.library.upenn.edu/catalog/FRANKLIN_9957818033503681

To create a search that pulls in multiple individual records use the alma_mms_id: field followed by the bibliographic id number, which is provided in the Direct Link. Use the keyword expert search and combine ids with OR:

alma_mms_id:9940973723503681 OR alma_mms_id:9959180943503681

To a search:

Search queries, as they appear in the browser URL line after the completion of a search, are stable URLs that can used to regenerate a search.

RSS Feeds

Any Franklin Catalog search can be turned into a RSS feed, by changing the "catalog" in the URL to "catalog.rss"

To create a bookmark to check for new items, before or after doing a search, click on a recently added facet value. Take the URL that displays at the top:

https://franklin.library.upenn.edu/catalog?f%5Brecently_added_f%5D%5B%5D=within_90_days

and change the "catalog" to "catalog.rss"

https://franklin.library.upenn.edu/catalog.rss?f%5Brecently_added_f%5D%5B%5D=within_90_days
