Web browsers use data files called "cookies" to store information about you and your session. This catalog displays information about requests and availability from the cloud, which appears to your browser as "third-party cookies," coming from outside the upenn.edu domain.
Apple's desktop Safari browser blocks third-party cookies by default. In other browsers, you may have chosen a setting that blocks third-party cookies. In these cases, you won't be able to see the information about requests and availability in the catalog.
Below are instructions for allowing third-party cookies for the catalog in different browsers. (You could achieve the same thing by allowing all cookies, but we don't advocate that.)
First, go to Safari's preferences, click on the privacy section, and choose "Cookies and website data: Allow from websites I visit."
Next, go to Franklin, and click on Login > PennKey, and then Library Account at the top right of the page. Log in when prompted. This will take you to your account, which is also at the domain upenn.alma.exlibrisgroup.com.
Now that you have gotten a cookie directly on this domain, you will be able to see the request options in the catalog.
First, go to Firefox's Preferences (Mac) or Options (Windows) and click on the privacy section. Under History, where it says "Firefox will:", choose "Use custom settings for history." Make sure "Accept cookies from sites" is checked off and then choose "Accept third-party cookies: From visited."

Click on the three dots in the upper right, then choose "Settings." Click on "Advanced" at the bottom of the page and then on the "Content settings" section near the bottom. Click on "Cookies."
If "Block third-party cookies" is selected, look for the "Allow" list just below, and add upenn.alma.exlibrisgroup.com and idp.pennkey.upenn.edu.
Click on the three dots in the upper right, and choose "Settings." Scroll down and choose "View advanced settings." Scroll down almost to the bottom of the advanced settings, and for "Cookies," select "Don't block cookies" from the pulldown menu.
Click on the gear icon at the top right, and choose "Internet options." Choose the "Privacy" tab and then "Settings," "Advanced." For third-party cookies, either "Block" or "Prompt" will be selected. Click "Okay" to close that window.
If "Block" was selected, click the "Sites" button next to the "Advanced" button. Type in upenn.alma.exlibrisgroup.com and then click "Allow." Then type in idp.pennkey.upenn.edu and click "Allow."
If "Prompt" was selected, just know to approve cookies from upenn.alma.exlibrisgroup.com and idp.pennkey.upenn.edu from the catalog, when prompted.
