Be sure to work with your mentor and grant manager in developing the budget so that the budget for the entire funding period is in the format specified by the parent grant PI’s department
NIH has salary caps, but check with your grant manager about how the applicant’s tuition, stipend, and benefits will be covered in the supplement budget
If the initial budget period request is less than 12 months, be sure to prorate the budget accordingly.
Each institute has their own rules and regulations on unallowable costs, which should be discussed with your POs. These may include:
Equipment, including computers
International travel, or travel for data collection
Additional personnel or contractor costs, such as interviewers, technicians, translates, etc.
