Library Services from Franklin

Request: The general request option can be used when you wish to have an item paged and held at the Circulation Desk of your desired library. This also includes items from LIBRA, our offsite storage facility.

Scan and Deliver: If we have a print book or journal at Penn Libraries, we will scan up to 50 pages of a work for you. Perfect for anthologized articles, book chapters, or print journal articles.

Place on Course Reserve: Library staff will scan and place materials for you on electronic reserve, or hold print copies at the reserves / circulation desk of your choice.

BorrowDirect+: If a book or DVD is unavailable, we can often get a copy from one of our partner libraries. Materials from BorrowDirect and EZBorrow arrive in 3-5 business days.

Interlibrary loan: Articles, as well as books unavailable from BorrowDirect+, can be requested from our general interlibrary loan service.

FacultyEXPRESS: Standing, tenure-track faculty in SAS and other schools are eligible for a program in which the Penn Libraries ships print material directly to faculty offices.

Purchase Requests

We welcome suggestions for the acquisition of materials to support the teaching and research of the Penn community. All suggestions are reviewed by the Libraries' bibliographers before a decision to purchase is made.

If you need materials on a short deadline, please consider using interlibrary loan options first - it will be much quicker.
