ScholarlyCommons

Name Change Policy

Requesting a name change on a Thesis/Dissertation, must be done by submitting a Student Data Update Form and a Thesis/Dissertation Name Change Request Form through the Office of the University Registrar and requires proof of legal name change.

If an author would like the name change to be reflected in the deposited material, such as a PDF manuscript, a new document must be uploaded; this will be marked as a version of the previous document.

If an author wishes their name to appear differently in the ScholarlyCommons interface after signing in, they can change it in the author field.

Limitations
If an author would like the name change to be reflected in the deposited material, such as a PDF manuscript, a replacement document must be uploaded; this will be marked as a version of the previous document.

Requesting a name change through ScholarlyCommons will not change that name in the University of Pennsylvania's institutional identity record. If an author would like their name to be changed in the institutional identity record, they should contact Student Registration and Financial Services.
