Using Electronic Resources

EZproxy Prefix to add in front of URLs

For resources to which the Library has access, often users will bookmark a URL when they are on campus and find that the resource is not accessible off campus.  In these cases, you can manually add the Penn Proxy prefix to the front of the URL. See also: EZproxy Browser Bookmarklet.

If you have the publisher's URL:

In most cases, you would merely add the proxy prefix -  https://proxy.library.upenn.edu/login?url= before the publisher provided URL.

Examples:

  • https://proxy.library.upenn.edu/login?&url=http://www.jstor.org/stable/41302872

Linking to a DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

A Digital Object Identifier or DOI is a persistent identifier used to identify unique objects.

Enter https://proxy.library.upenn.edu/login?url= followed by http://dx.doi.org/ before the DOI.

Example:

https://proxy.library.upenn.edu/login?&url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/0161956X.2011.579001
