Learn about specific journals, evaluation metrics, and submission details using Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities

Many library database interfaces provide a check box to limit the search results to scholarly or peer-reviewed articles.

Franklin Articles+ has a Peer reviewed limit on the left.

Journal Citation Reports analyzes journal citation patterns to determine indicators including total cites, journal impact factor, impact factor without self cites, 5 year impact factor, citable items, cited half-life, citing half-life, and Article Influence Score for  journals in the sciences and the social sciences.  Options include

indicators include: journal impact factor, journal impact factor contributing items, cited half life, journal relationships, distribution by country, contributions by organization, and many key indicators.

Browse by Category:

1. On the left panel, choose Edition:  SSCI (Social Science Citation Index). This choice determines what subject categories that display.
2. Click Select Categories and choose one or more categories.
3. Select JCR year (1997-2019)
4. Click Submit at bottom left.
5. Initial display data includes total cites, journal impact factors.  Choose Customized Indicators to select other indicators.

• CiteScore metrics for journals and serials

  Search journals covered by Scopus. Metrics include CiteScore (See CiteScore Factsheet), citations received in one year for docs published in previous 3 years, sum of documents published in 3 years prior to the year of the metric , % of documents cited in those three years with at least 1 citation in metric year, SNIP and SJR ranks). Note Education under Social Sciences,
• SCImago Journal & Country Rankings List

  Uses Scopus data to calculate SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) and Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP). The metrics compare to Web of Knowledge’s Impact Factor. Sort by Subject, Subject Category, Country, Year
• Google Scholar - Top Publications Social Sciences

  According to Google Scholar Index (usually as of a month before the present), top publications by h5-index and h5-median. Subcategories include many education subfields. The H5 journal metric is the largest number h such that h articles published in a five year span were cited at least h times.
• InCites Essential Science Indicators

  Identify top-performing research in Web of Science Core Collection. ESI surveys more than 11,000 journals from around the world to rank authors, institutions, countries, and journals in 22 broad fields based on publication and citation performance. Data covers a rolling 10-year period and includes bimonthly updates to rankings and citation counts. The social sciences is one of the categories.
