Modern artificial intelligence tools offer many potential benefits for research and education. At the same time, many publisher license agreements prohibit uploading licensed materials to third party platforms. As such, some uses of AI tools risk violating our publisher license agreements when used with Penn licensed content. If you have any questions about using licensed content with an AI tool, please contact your subject librarian. We can help you identify tools and strategies to conduct your research in compliance with our license agreements.
Large language models analyze vast amounts of content during their training process. After training, large language models may fine tune on other content to adapt to specific tasks. If you want to train or fine tune an artificial intelligence model with content that Penn subscribes to, please contact your subject librarian before doing so to discuss the options available to you.
Penn Information Systems and Computing provides guidance on using generative artificial intelligence. They offer guidelines for members of the Penn community who are using, or interested in using, AI in pursuit of Penn’s mission.
