Policy on Use of Library Public Workstations

Policy on Use of Library Public Workstations

The University of Pennsylvania Library provides public workstations to access collections, information, resources, and services in support of the University's learning, teaching, and research mission.

  • Priority of use is given to University of Pennsylvania students, faculty, and staff for academic and research purposes. At times, demand for workstations may exceed the number available. To optimize available resources, staff may regulate and limit use. Patrons using workstations for non-academic purposes may be asked to relinquish their workstations or move to another location.
  • The Library is committed to providing an environment conducive to study and research. When using public workstations, users are asked to be sensitive to the needs of others and to respect an individual's rights to privacy.
  • The use of library public workstations is subject to policies governing the use of University equipment, electronic resources, computing, and privacy (https://www.isc.upenn.edu/IT/policies) as well as all applicable state and federal laws, copyright restrictions, and license agreements. Users are prohibited from tampering with software or hardware. Patrons who fail to comply with this policy will be subject to disciplinary action.
